Prism Technology Co., Ltd. is an inkjet ink specialist that carries on the ink technology LG Chem started in 1994. Building on over 30 years of know-how, we develop both pigment and dye inks and make them 100% in Korea. On this blog we share guides on choosing inks and caring for printers, along with stories about our products and technology.

Prism Technology at a glance

  • Heritage — took over the ink technology LG Chem started in 1994; over 30 years of ink know-how
  • Technology — sub-100 nm nano pigment dispersion, synthesis and purification of inkjet dyes, about 100 proprietary ink formulations
  • Production — 500 MT of pigment ink and 500 MT of dye ink per year, all made in Korea
  • Export — 20 countries including Japan, Germany, the Philippines and South America (supplied to the Philippine government as a procurement product)
  • Brands — PRISM (bulk inks) and PHOTOMAX (finished refill inks for ink tank printers), both registered trademarks

Ink performance is decided by dispersion

The performance of an inkjet ink is decided by how finely and how evenly the colorant is dispersed. Our in-house nano dispersion process produces pigment dispersions with an average particle size of 91.7 nm and a polydispersity index (PDI) of 0.252. A narrower particle size distribution means less nozzle clogging and sedimentation, and better long-term stability and color reproducibility.

Our dye inks go through our own synthesis and purification processes. High-purity dyes, with impurities and metal ions removed, determine storage stability and color gamut. Clean production and packaging facilities with automatic filling and sealing keep out contamination and minimize lot-to-lot variation.

What we make

  • Compatible bulk inks — pigment and dye inks for HP, Canon, Epson and Brother printers (1 KG units)
  • PHOTOMAX — finished refill inks with caps that fit OEM ink tank printers (70–100 ml, 80 pcs per carton)
  • Nozzle cleaning liquids — dissolve dried ink and restore nozzles
  • Sublimation inks — 6 colors, compatible with Epson nozzles and DX5/DX7 heads
  • Eco-solvent inks — ink and cleaning liquid for Mimaki, Roland and Mutoh (JV3, JV33, SS2, SS21 compatible)

Safe for people and the environment

We use no heavy metals such as lead, cadmium or mercury, and no solvents harmful to people. Our inks have been reported and inspected under Korea's consumer chemical product safety standards; light and water fastness was tested by the FITI Testing & Research Institute, and non-toxicity was confirmed in tests based on GLP standards. We also hold non-toxicity data for Japan and safety data to EU and US standards. The original test reports and certificates are available on our eco-friendly page.

Research and development

Our corporate R&D center is developing photo inks based on nano-encapsulation and next-generation electronic inks based on nano pigment dispersion. With our accumulated dispersion technology we are also able to develop next-generation pigment, solvent and UV inks. We are certified as an R&D-type venture company (valid from 28 Feb 2026 to 27 Feb 2029).
